World of Warcraft Hints
Tips for Playing World of Warcraft
So you have finally taken the plunge and joined the Massively Multi-player Online Role-playing Game (fondly known as an MMORPG). Now what?
To the uninitiated, the World of Warcraft (also known as WoW) can be a bit intimidating. Before you even start the game, you’ll find that the number of options can be overwhelming.
Ask too many questions when you join the game, and you’ll find yourself labeled as a “noob” and placed on everyone’s ignore list. So here are some World of Warcraft hints to help you survive you first day online.
Choose your character carefully
The best World of Warcraft hints come from knowing your character options. Before you even start playing WoW, you’ll be making huge decisions that will affect your game play as long as that character is still active.
Your first decision, Horde vs. Alliance, will determine what “team” you’ll be playing for – Horde and Alliance are mortal enemies, and if you have chosen a PVP server you will have to watch your back.

Which race, which class?
Different races have different attributes ranging from how they look to where their strengths are. From there different classes will determine how you play the game.
Priests, for example, can do major damage or can be strong healers for group quests. Warriors tend to be “tanks” – leading the group and taking the most damage during battles. Hunters have the advantage of using a pet to do most of the dirty work for them.
If this is your first time playing WoW, choose the character that most appeals to you. Read the World of Warcraft hints in the notes for insights on your character’s strengths and weaknesses. You can always go back and create an alternate character or “alt” to try out playing a different race or class. Keep in mind that PVP servers will not allow you to have a Horde character and an Alliance character on the same server.
World of Warcraft hints for questing
Questing is one of those unavoidable aspects of the game. It actually serves multiple purposes – it teaches you how to play your character, it helps you to earn money and better gear, it can help with the gathering of materials for professions, and it is designed to help you gain levels in the game.
Your Quest Journal.
The most obvious of the World of Warcraft tips is to read your Quest Journal. The vast majority of the time, the quest description will tell you which direction to go and who or what to kill. This can help you avoid appearing like a noob by asking too many questions in the general chat.
If you still get lost, consider checking out online sites like Thottbot and WoWWiki for help from other players. You can also download mods that will assist you with game play.
Keep in mind that you can follow the quest lines of your race or any other race on your faction. Some World of Warcraft hints suggest doing the Night Elf quests on the Alliance and the Undead quests on the Horde if you are looking to level up quickly.
Learn your hub city
Each faction has several hub cities that offer players multiple opportunities to interact with other players. The main city offers several features – from modes of transport to other main cities and outlying regions to mailboxes for in-game communication.
The main city will also include things like -
- Your bank – where you can keep items so you have more bag space on your character.
- The Auction House – where you can buy and sell gear, materials, and other items.
- Class and profession trainers – where you can up your profession skills and learn new spells for character.
- The barbershop – where you can change your hairstyle and other features.
- Plus an assortment of shops where you can buy gear, make repairs, get food and drink, and other items.
