Blacksmithing is one of the professions that you can choose as a player in World of Warcraft. It allows the character to forge things out of metal, including weapons, armor, and other trade items.
World of Warcraft blacksmithing is useful mainly to those characters that can wear mail and plate. However, other classes can use blacksmithing as well for the weapons and other items that blacksmiths can make. Yellow recipes give a skill point most of the time. Green recipes will occasionally earn you a skill point. Grey recipes will not earn you any skill points for crafting them. Specializing as a blacksmith

Weaponsmiths will have the opportunity to specialize even further, becoming hammersmiths, axesmiths, or swordsmiths. These higher level specializations give the blacksmith access to armor or weapons that only he or she can use and wear.
If you choose, you can decide to change specialties if one doesn’t suit your needs. You will have to return to the trainer that originally taught you the specialty to drop it, and there is a charge involved. You will then be able to pick up the other specialty and level up from there.

- Blacksmithing is a great choice if you want to make your own armor and weapons, particularly if you are looking for “blue” items at a low cost.
- Armorsmithing has a more limited market than weaponsmithing, however, the players that can wear what an armorsmith makes need more than one piece of armor, whereas the players who use weapons will need two at most.
- Keep in mind that you will need ingredients other than metal ore to smith your recipes. This can include stones, gems, potions, leathers, and other consumables, as well as items that can be purchased from a blacksmith vendor such as flux and coal.
- The fastest way to level your World of Warcraft blacksmithing is to make only the recipes that are orange to you. However, keep in mind that this can get to be very pricey in some instances. Be sure to shop around at the Auction House to see which orange recipe would be the cheapest to make, or which yellow items you can make multiples of in place of one orange item.
- To specialize your World of Warcraft blacksmithing, you will have to complete a specialization quest. Remember to choose the quest that you want carefully, as you will be bound to this decision (or have to pay large sums of gold to be able to reverse your decision).
