Understanding WoW Talents

WOW Cat Talent Build

Wow Strategy Booster LevelingFirst, when you  start out playing World of Warcraft you get to pick a basic character.

You could choose an Alliance or Horde race and any one of a large number of different  classes.

You could decide to be a Dwarf Warrior or a Blood Elf Warlock.

For the first 9 levels of the game, each member of a class is the same.

Once you hit level 10 however you start earning Talent Points.

These talent points can be used to personalize your character even further.

You can create the perfect character for your playing style.

Now it’s possible to begin to use things like the cat talent build.

The cat talent build will enable you to create a Feral Druid instead of a Resto Druid.

Three Trees

Every single class in WoW has three trees that you can choose to use your WoW talents in.

As a Warlock, your Warlock talent builds are dependent on the tree that you spend the most points in.

So if you plan on using your summoned demon a lot, you will want to put more of your points into the Demonology tree.

If you are concerned mostly with Shadow Priest talents to build your Priest then you will have a strong DPS character but will not be able to give as many of the classic heals.

The builds for each character are:

  • Warrior – Arms, Fury or Protection
  • Warlock – Affliction, Demonology or Destruction
  • Shaman – Elemental, Enhancement or Restoration
  • Rogue – Assassination, Combat or Subtlety
  • Priest – Discipline, Holy or Shadow
  • Paladin – Holy, Protection or Retribution
  • Mage – Arcane, Fire or Frost
  • Hunter – Beast Mastery, Marksmanship or Survival
  • Druid – Balance, Feral or Restoration
  • Death Knight – Blood, Frost or Unholy

Spending your talents wisely

There are numerous ways that you can choose to spend your talent points as you earn them.

Choose your WoW talents carefully.

  • Talents can be unlearned.
  • It’s possible to “respect” if you want to trade your DK tank talent build for a DPS one.
  • It will cost you gold.

Doing a search for your class, such as searching for “Warlock talent builds” will help you find gaming guides that offer suggested ways to spend your talent points.

Remember that at level 40 you have the option to use your WoW talents in two different trees if you purchase the ability to dual spec.

While this option is pricey (at 1000 gold), it will allow you to have a cat talent build for your Druid to level with and a Resto talent build to use for instance runs.

Branches of the same tree

If you take a closer look at the different WoW talents for each class, you will find that they all tend to overlap to some extent.

For instance;

You’ll find that Shadow Priest talents are mostly geared towards players looking for more DPS.

A Discipline Priest can still do DPS, but has the added ability to throw out heals when needed.

A Holy Priest is designed to act mostly as a healer.

This is an important thing to consider whether you are rolling a Priest or looking for the best DK tank talent build.

Another thing to consider when you are choosing your WoW talents is the fact that you are not limited to just one tree.

In fact, if you look up your Warlock talent builds you will often find that while seasoned players may favor one tree over another, they will quite often spend points in the other trees to achieve the WoW talents that they want.

For instance, while you may favor the cat talent build for your Druid, it may also be wise to spend a few points in the Restoration tree to earn WoW talents like “Improved Mark of the Wild”.

Finding that perfect balance of WoW talents is what will allow you to be a successful player.
