Powerleveling Guide
What is power leveling?
Power leveling is when you play the game of WoW with the intent of moving up in levels as fast as you can.
In many cases, these are players that have played WoW before, and are looking to level up an alternate character to give them more options in end game content. While you can download a powerleveling guide online, here are the basic tips that you need to know.
Keep your quest log full
To avoid wasting time, pick up all quests that you are eligible for while you are in a new area. That way you can complete multiple quests while you are away from town and save on trips running back and forth.
Use groups wisely
Depending on the class you choose, you may find it beneficial to have the assistance of one or two other players. For example, a tank and a healer can plow through a ton of mobs together with little to no breaks (the tank doing the majority of the killing with the healer throwing heals as needed). However, in other cases, working with a group can slow you up. Unless you need the gear, instance runs are often a waste of time when you are trying to power level.

Don’t be afraid to travel
If you are looking for a powerleveling guide, take the multi-zone approach. For example, do all the new character quests in your starting zone. Then, head to the closest starting zone of another race and do those quests as well. These quests will still be green to you, and the easier mobs will allow you to complete quests fast, racking up the experience points.
Go green
You can use your quest log as a powerleveling guide. Green quests are those that are two or three levels below you, yellow quests are the level you are currently at, and orange and red quests are above your level. Don’t waste your time doing orange and red quests right away – if you die during the quest, then you’re wasting time. Grind until the quests turn green and then knock them out quickly.
Dump quests
Have a quest that is now gray? Dump it. Have a group quest and you can’t find a group quickly? Dump it. Realize that you forgot to do a quest and are now halfway around the world? Dump it. Quest giver wants you to run back and forth everywhere? Dump it. These quests are a waste of time.
Abandon the quest and move on. You can always come back and do it later if you need to.
Don’t be afraid to grind
One thing that not every powerleveling guide will tell you is that grinding can be an effective way to level. The idea behind power level grinding is to kill monsters that are green to you. You should be able to kill these quickly and still gain decent experience. Sure it will be boring, but it will get you to the next level. And if you are a leatherworker or a tailor, this can be a fast way to gather mats you need to level your skill up.
Think about your profession
Remember that you can always abandon a profession later on. Some skills can be profitable, but take a significant amount of time to learn. The gathering skills, on the other hand, can be pure profit, and then you can drop one later on if you choose. Mining, skinning, and herbalism can all be easily done while power leveling. Disenchanting can prove useful if you want to disenchant green items you pick up and sell the mats.
Other professions become more useful later on but can slow you up when power leveling.
